This 3,000 square foot 1906 brick commercial building is a successful adaptive-reuse project. Originally an auto dealership, ZAC Landscape Architecture leased the building in 1990 and hired Mary Dooley to help transform the building into offices for their Landscape Architecture business as well as creating spaces for other design professionals. Individual office spaces were created with low partitions that preserved the open character of the overall space with open rafters and roof. A diagonal corridor was created visually connecting the front entry to the back courtyard with office spaces on either side. The partitions were composed of inexpensive materials including exposed fasteners, fiberboard, sheet steel, and corrugated fiberglass.
